Biography
Caroline Bouchard is an assistant professor in the Biology Department. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology, concentration in marine sciences, from the Université du Québec à Rimouski, a master's degree in biology from Université Laval and a doctorate in oceanography from Université Laval. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Iceland, she joined the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources in Nuuk in 2017.
Her research aims to better understand how climate change affects zooplankton, ichthyoplankton and fish in the Arctic seas, their interactions, and how these disturbances impact the ecosystem as a whole. Over the course of her career, Professor Bouchard has set up a research program combining several disciplines and knowledge systems (Inuit knowledge, natural sciences, social sciences, participatory science) to better predict the response of Arctic ecosystems to climate change. In collaboration with communities, her team seeks to understand how climate change is affecting Arctic marine ecosystems, and to anticipate how future changes will transform lifestyles in Inuit Nunaat.
She is a member of the Quebec-Ocean strategic cluster, the ArcticNet research network, the Takuvik international joint unit and the Institut nordique du Québec.
